Thoughts on education…
As the instructional leader of Pleasantville Elementary, I have a sincere belief in the Pleasantville Elementary Mission Statement. I am fully committed to working with parents and staff to provide a terrific education in an emotionally and physically secure environment.
On a regular basis, we use data from a variety of sources to make instructional and program decisions that address specific areas of need and foster continued growth in areas that are strengths. We integrate student-centered instructional strategies to meet the needs of our students including: flexible grouping, differentiated instruction, and reciprocal teaching. These strategies are used in conjunction with the district-adopted curricula to address the Delaware State Content Standards. Our staff encourages higher order thinking skills and the ability to effectively solve problems in and out of the classrooms.
Parent/community involvement is vital to the educational success of all students. Thus, we strongly encourage parents to actively participate in our school events throughout the year. Furthermore, the Pleasantville PTA is a valuable component of the success of Pleasantville Elementary as they actively contribute to many of the events and activities both during and after school hours.
As I walk through the Pleasantville halls, I am continually amazed by the academic and social development that occurs daily. Our halls are alive with the academic accomplishments of our students! I am proud to say that I am a part of this wonderful community of learners.
